Five things you need to know if you havent complied with ESOS yet

1.    Do you need to Comply?

⁃    Confirm whether at 31st December 2014 whether your organisation met the large undertaking criteria; employed 250 or more people (people not FTE) or had an annual turnover >£38,937,777 & annual balance sheet total of >£3

2.    Decide route?

⁃    ESOS assessment via an energy audit methodology is best
⁃    You need to appoint a registered ESOS assessor to oversee and sign off prior to submission

3.    Data Collection

⁃    Are you able to collect verifiable data for buildings, processes and transport?

4.    Deadline extension…

⁃    There is a deadline extension sort of … its not called an extension and can’t legally be but if you show the intent to submit your ESOS findings you can buy your self some time.
⁃    YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS AND REGISTER COMPLIANCE BY 29th JANUARY 2016 TO AVOID ENFORCEMENT

5.    Enforcement

⁃    fixed penalty for not registering compliance £5,000 + £500 per day until notification
⁃    failure to undertake an energy audit £50,000 + £500 per day until remedied
⁃    Also the EA are able to name and shame non-compliant organisations
